KVS – An Overview
        Kendriya Vidyalayas are a composite co-education institute established in 1963 under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan., an autonpmous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Today Kendriya Vidyalayas are spread across the country with a few based abroad to provide quality education to the children. Kendriya Vidyalaya are the only educational institutes amongst top ten service brands providing quality service- Report Economic Times, 17^th Dec2003.

KV AFS GORAKHPUR – A PROFILE

          Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 AFS was established in the year 1973. the 1st batch of the All India Secondary School Examination was sent in 1978. Vidyalaya was upgraded to +2 level in 1979 & started Science and Humanities stream in Class XI. The 1^st batch of All India Sr. School Certificate Examination appeared in 1980. the school was formerly housed in the barracks in old project , AFS, Gorakhpur. It was shifted to the new Project in 1981. Due to its mide spread popularity in a short span of time, new sections came up with growing demand from central government employees including defence personnel’s for the admission of their children. The commerce stream at +2 stage was started in the year 1989. The school developed into a big institution with five sections in each class from I to X and two sections each in Class XI and XII in Science Stream one section each in Humanities and in Commerce Stream.
